ABOUT OUR TEACHERS
Mrs. Popienko: I grew up in a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois. I received many teaching degrees from SIU (Southern Illinois University). I started my career teaching middle school and within seven years I taught a variety of grades in Illinois. My husband and I moved to Georgia 27 years ago for tennis and the opportunity to be a part of the opening of Davis Elementary. I have taught special education, second grade, third grade and fourth grade at Davis. My husband is a local tennis professional in this area. Our son and daughter also went to Davis Elementary. Our son is a General Manager of LA Fitness and our married daughter is an interior designer and a mother of two beautiful little boys. I love spending time with my grandsons and scrapbooking. In my free time, I enjoy swimming and reading.
Mrs. Rosenfeld: I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky and am a die-hard Wildcat fan. I bleed blue and while I enjoy football season (just because I like football), I will be rooting loudly for the basketball team come March. I moved to the Atlanta area in 1984 and finished my education degree at Georgia State University then my M.Ed, in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. My entire teaching experience has been in Cobb County, with the last 18 years at Davis. I spent my first 13 years in special education co-teaching across all elementary grade levels with students with physical disabilities. Currently, I am in my 10th year teaching general ed, 9 years in 4th grade. My husband and I have been married for 26 years in September. We have three children, a 21 year old son who is engaged in Biblical Studies through Southern Baptist Convention universities, his lovely wife and an 18 year old daughter who attends high school in Cherokee County. We are active members at First Baptist Church Woodstock. Besides my own children and yours, I love our two boxer "puppies" (they are 3 and 6 years old) and our Russian Blue cat.
Mrs. Smith: My family moved to the Atlanta area just this year and are so happy with our decision. I have two sons, a two and a half year old and an 8 month old who have kept me extremely busy over the summer. I earned my Early Childhood Education degree from the University of Central Florida and a master of Arts in Teaching and Learning from Nova University. I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade for the last 9 years. |
