The assignment notebook is an important organizational tool. Your child will be expected to record the main assignments for each subject and indicate what homework needs to be completed. Notes and reminders will be recorded in the last boxes. Students are encouraged to copy what the teacher records on the whiteboard during class time. Learning how to record assignments and write notes to yourself is critical to your child's success in middle school and high school.
We DO require parents to sign or initial the assignment notebook nightly, but we feel the notebook should be the child's responsibility and s/he should bring it to you for a signature. If your child has a note about his or her conduct, missing work, etc., your child will be expected to show you the note. That note will be written on the "gold sheet" attached to the back of the assignment notebook. We ask that you sign this page each Thursday (not before). Friday "Gold Time" reward is partially based on all these signatures.
